Anna Stindt, 92, a long time Yankee Lake summer resident, passed away Saturday, 16 August 2014, at her home in Hereford,Texas.
Anna was born 7 June 1922 in Germany, lived in St. Thomas, USVI and then graduated from Mt. Sinai School of Nursing in New York City in 1945. In 1946, she married Frederick Stindt of Cliffside Park, NJ and Yankee Lake, NY. Anna was a registered nurse at Deaf County Memorial Hospital in Hereford,Texas and later was a long time volunteer in the Hospital Auxillary.
Survivors include three daughters: Jo Ann Hegarty of Princeton, N.J., Diana Stindt of Clemmons, N.C., and Janice Vasek of Hereford, Texas. Anna raised her grandchildren Mike and Donna Fink in the summers at Yankee Lake from 1974 – 1987 and later Jacqueline Hegarty. Anna is also survived by two additional Grandchildren and 5 great Grandchildren.
Anna’s favorite time at Yankee Lake was blueberry season. Anna loved to pick “berries” and would can them for Christmas Presents! She will be missed dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Yankee Lake Preservation Association.
