Proud of his country and polish heritage, he was a member of the PLAV and past president of the Moose Lodge. He played his beloved polkas everywhere, even at hunting camp. Joe was also a past fire chief of the Pine Island Fire Dept. and a huge NASCAR and Buffalo Bills fan. He was witty and well liked, and he leaves many friends with great memories of good times together.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen at home; sons: Joseph J. Purta III and his wife, Noreen of Williamsburg, KY and Thomas W. Martini and his wife, Sandra of Plattsburgh, NY and one daughter, Suzanne Iazzetti and her husband, Ben of Monroe, NY; one sister, Adele Miller of Amity, NY and seven grandchildren: Thomas, Stefanie, Kathleen, Kevin, Rebecca, Joan-Marie and Cora-Ann, and the pride of his life, his great-granddaughter, Lilah.
